Public Relations

A former Information Manger for the College of William & Mary and Senior Public Affairs Officer for Vanderbilt University, Shaw has successfully placed stories in such high-profile publications such as The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Time magazine, Newsweek, U.S. News & World Report, and The Chronicle of Higher Education, as well as Reuters and the Associated Press.

Her special events work includes assistance with the 300th anniversary celebration at The College of William & Mary—highlighted by a special visit from Prince Charles of Great Britain—as well as doing publicity and working events involving such notables as former W&M Chancellor Margaret Thatcher, then-Ambassador to France Pamela Harriman, President George Bush, historian and Pulitzer Prize-winning writer David McCullough, Jane Goodall, Spike Lee, and Maya Angelou.

Public Relations work at Dalmatian Press/Intervisual Books involved writing and disseminating press releases, creating custom media lists, and serving as the contact person with Publishers Weekly.

Shaw also creates digital news releases with live links to help market clients and events, and utilizes social media sites such as Facebook and twitter.

"Besides writing actual books for Dalmatian Press, Peggy was responsible for writing author bios, book jacket copy, and marketing 'blurbs.' Peggy handled all our press releases for Publishers Weekly. Where we have had difficulty getting our books listed in that periodical, Peggy was able to reach the right people, doggedly and sweetly pursuing the matter. Consequently—we got in!"
